I could use my UV82 for one side of the comm. But it can do full duplex already, which is why I was wondering about the control. I'm still in the learning stage.... My next antenna to build would be a dual band 2m?70cm yagi setup. Does SATPC32 require two separate radios to control them individually? BTW... did you add DSP to your radios to improve the receive side? What about filters? I have two of them and an Elk antenna so I'm trying to replicate your setup. My problem is that the radios won't track with SatPC 32. Radio 1 tracks but Radio 2 doesn't. Also if I change sats so that Radio 1 goes to VHF, it won't go back to UHF for a different satellite.I'm following your config as exact as I can. It should work.
Question: did you ever have a similar problem with one radio not tracking. I tried switching radios and cables but the problem remains the same. I'm using Valley Ent. FTDI cables. I tried another CAT cable I have but the problem is the same. The computer is an HP Mini. I tried each radio and cable with HRD and CAT control works on both. If you can think of any way I should troubleshoot this config, I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Larry W7DGPAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248654167560604896.post-24532322633775847072012-09-10T08:07:13.771-07:002012-09-10T08:07:13.771-07:00Hi Paolo, Thanks for the nice comments! You're right, the FT-817ND radios won't update the TX frequency during transmit, so I simply unkey the mike every sentence or two. That lets the radio go back into RX and it gets immediately updated with the new doppler frequency. Alternatively, I could trun the knob manually during TX, but unkeying the mike is easier.

73! de Dave KB5WIAKB5WIAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01482606551647955921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248654167560604896.post-23930604716279349092012-09-10T01:17:13.711-07:002012-09-10T01:17:13.711-07:00Thanks for sharing your sat experience with two ft...Thanks for sharing your sat experience with two ft817. It's my aim to create a similar setup with an ft817 and a ic706.

Only one question:

I know that is not possible to change the tx frequency of a ft817 while it's transmitting.
So, i think, HRD is not able to automatically change the tx frequency of the 817 that you are using to transmit for doppler compensation.

Am I wrong? Do you compensate manually rotating the knob?

73 de in3aqkDensityAltitudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03762121955770813295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248654167560604896.post-6689175255989189812012-02-10T10:11:43.501-08:002012-02-10T10:11:43.501-08:00The Elk Antenna is pretty easy to connect to a pho...The Elk Antenna is pretty easy to connect to a photo tripod. I just took the quick-release mount out of the tripod, and removed the camera thumbscrew, replacing it with a threaded bolt (stove bolts work well, since the round head recesses into the bottom of the quick-release mount). Once you have a bolt sticking out of the top, you can easily adapt that to a PVC end-cap or other suitable interface with the PVC "socket" on the Elk.
-DaveKB5WIAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01482606551647955921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248654167560604896.post-41472591126477421142012-02-10T09:33:52.323-08:002012-02-10T09:33:52.323-08:00How did you securely connect your Elk to the tripo...How did you securely connect your Elk to the tripod?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248654167560604896.post-1738024719232847402011-05-18T06:45:51.507-07:002011-05-18T06:45:51.507-07:00Thanks!! I simply used the memory channels to program in simple doppler shifts. I imagine the system would also work well full-duplex with other radios (like the Kenwood), but haven't tried this myself!KB5WIAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01482606551647955921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248654167560604896.post-72686755369116050012011-05-18T03:48:36.080-07:002011-05-18T03:48:36.080-07:00Super !
